Sunshine & street food - Holly & Chris' wedding

Holly and Chris had their wedding with us in July and it couldn't have been a better day for the laid-back, food festival-style wedding they'd been hoping for...

The proposal

We were on holiday in August 2020 in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire. This is my childhood holiday destination where we went every summer. It's a special place for my family. We were having one last walk on the beach after a lovely holiday. Cooper was in the carrier on Chris and I turned round to find him on one knee, trying not to topple over because of Cooper! He handed me a heart-shaped stone which he'd found this holiday and asked me to marry him. We chose a ring together when we got home. Throughout the proposal, Cooper was being fed hot cross buns! He was a hungry 10 month old who had no idea what was going on.

Why did you choose Belcote Farm/what was your vision for your wedding?

We wanted a really laid-back and relaxed feel to our wedding with our friends and family around us. Also having two small kids, we didn't want anything too formal. We loved how pretty Belcote was and had a vision of pastel bunting, fairy lights and flowers everywhere. We also love street food so this worked well with the venue!

The dress

The dress was from a bridal shop in Droitwich called Caroline Clark Bridal Boutique. I tried on a few styles whilst pregnant so just before bump popped out and thought I'd go for a Grecian flowy style, however, I ended up loving a different style. My dress had a fuller skirt, a long train, lace and and a bit of sparkle.

Styling and decor

We went for lots of bright colours in the end, not just pastel colours! Our vision was bright and colourful. The bridesmaid dresses were sage green so we used that on the tables too.

Catering

We chose Casa Med as they are our favourite restaurant ever! They had never done a wedding before but we sent them a message to ask as we love their food and their restaurant is often a date destination for us! They were amazing. They worked tirelessly to devise a bespoke menu for us and to serve the high standard of food they usually do in the restaurant. They also provided canapés and welcome drinks which went down very well! In the evening, we used Gyoza Gyoza, Wedding Pizza Co, Jo's Coffee and Betty's Waffles. They all did a wonderful job and we had lots of positive comments about the food.

Photographer

Amy-Rose is an old friend of Chris'. We had seen many examples of weddings she had photographed in the past and loved her relaxed style, especially candid photos. Her eye for detail and beautiful picture opportunities is what made us choose her.

Entertainment

The Dinner Jacket DJs are friends of mine - fellow teachers! They had done the music for my 30th birthday party and then a few other events I've been to. Without a doubt, I knew I wanted them at our wedding. They were the very first thing we booked after the venue!

Standout moments from the day

The food! The street food vendors in the evening really helped to continue the amazing food we offered guests throughout the day. How stunning Belcote looked all day was an absolute highlight for us too. Guests loved the games, the photobooth, the selfie station and the silent disco too.

Advice to other couples?

Get your taxis booked well in advance and visit as much as you can to get a good feel for the space.
